Best Cosplayer At Ikebukuro Halloween Cosplay Fest 2019

In Japan, Halloween comes early every year, when cosplayers and partygoers begin celebrating the festival on the weekend before October 31. This gives people plenty of time to enjoy the party without having to worry about going to work or school the next day, and that's what happened this weekend, when people went out to enjoy the Japanese Halloween costume parade in Tokyo's Ikebukuro district. Called the Ikebukuro Halloween Cosplay Fest, or "Ikehalo" for short, this annual gathering of cosplayers first started in 2014 and has grown to become one of the biggest Halloween events in Japan. One of the highlights of this festival is the fact that cosplayers roam the streets in their costumes, so you may see them in parks, shops, and main streets around the east exit of Ikebukuro Station for two days. And with Japan's top cosplayer Enako appearing at the opening ceremony, we know this year's festival iteration will be interesting. So let's get started and take a look at cosplayers and their costumes! The cosplay we saw over the weekend was completely on par with the quality we saw at Comiket earlier this year, only this encounter was much closer to downtown Tokyo and closer to Halloween. Those are two reasons why we'll be going to Ikebukuro to Shibuya again next year, and while we're there we can finally muster up the courage to zipline from their skyscrapers to sky-tall tallest cosplay.
